The Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi supports the Alpha Phi Foundation, one of the oldest Greek foundations for women. Its mission is to empower women to be generous givers. We raise funds for programs that advance leadership development, encourage academic excellence, improve women's heart health, support sisters in need, and educate about the value of philanthropy.

We hold our philanthropy close to our hearts, as its focus is on supporting research and education for women's heart health. Whether we are hosting our Red Dress Gala, Heart Health Week or Cardiac Arrest at UC Berkeley, Alpha Phis are always finding fun and exciting ways to support the Alpha Phi Foundation.

We began partnering with the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital because of our several Cal Alpha Phi members and alumni working there, and we are so inspired by all the amazing projects that the hospital works on. So far, we have donated money to the hospital and written cards for St. Patrick's Day. We look forward to all our future endeavors with such an amazing organization!

This year we started getting involved more with a local girl scouts troop. We held a Heart Health Day for the girls, incorporating a CPR session with fun activities, arts and crafts, and active games. We are now working on a band-aid drive with the troop for the Children's Hospital!

Every fall, the women of Alpha Phi Lambda Chapter host their annual Red Dress Gala in support of the Alpha Phi Foundation and women's heart health. This event consists of a silent auction, an elegant dinner, dancing, a recognition to our graduating seniors and of course,

red dresses. Each sister reaches out to local businesses and organizations to help put together baskets for the auction. We invite our family and friends to attend this special, intimate night.

We hosted our last Red Dress Gala at the Aquarium of the Bay, raising over $22,000, which we donated to the Alpha Phi Foundation for the research of women's heart disease.

Our spring philanthropy is a week long event, Heart Health Week, which culminates in our annual flag football tournament. In a school whose heart bleeds blue and gold, Alpha Phi dedicates a week to the color RED to support cardiac care. Whether it's through selling smoothies, jumping rope on Sproul Plaza, or National Wear Red Day, we at Lambda Chapter are dedicated to bringing heart health education and fun to the Berkeley campus!

Our flag football tournament is the culmination of our week-long philanthropy. Other sororities and fraternities participate in this fun, cardio-filled event. Each team is coached by 2-3 sisters in which they compete to win a donation to their own chapter's philanthropy.
