This summer, so many of us have had the opportunities to explore. From hiking in the Pacific Northwest, to watching radiant sunsets in Thailand, to traversing the Sahara by camel, appreciating the world's natural beauty is so important to us. As Alpha Phis and as human beings, we believe that respecting the earth and all it has to offer is crucial in creating a better world.
Here Tamren is hiking near the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir, Northern California's primary water source. In our home, we emphasize saving water by encouraging each other to take shorter showers, especially in the current drought.
Lily loves discovering new spots in her native Thailand. On a hike in Phu Hin Rong Kla Phitsanulok National Park, she took a quick dive in the chilly waters of the Man Daeng waterfall.
A Montana native, Emma loves exploring the outdoors. Here she's backpacking in Glacier National Park, enjoying the sunshine, and marveling at the snow-topped mountains.
Sometimes the best education comes from learning to adapt to a new place. Whether it be a quick weekend trip or a three-month stay, traveling is the best way to expand horizons and learn about other cultures. This summer, many of our Phis spent time abroad. From trying new foods to getting lost in a big city and everything in between, we've learned more about ourselves and about the world. We can't wait to get back to Berkeley and share our stories!
With finals over and done with, we are so excited to start enjoying this summer! From taking summer classes at Cal, to traveling with family and friends, to attending music festivals, to working and interning at companies and organizations around the country, we can't wait to see what this summer has in store!
