On March 5, we hosted our first annual philanthropy event with TKE: Puppies n’ Pancakes! We worked with Canine Companions to host an amazing time! We raised around $1,000, which will go to Canine Companions, St. Judes, and the Alpha Phi Foundation for Women's Heart Health. We had a great time petting the pups and eating delicious pancakes and are so happy that we raised money for these three awesome organizations.
Don't forget to come by Puppies & Pancakes this Sunday at TKE! Our joint philanthropy event goes from 11am to 2pm. Tickets are $6 presale and $8 at the door. For presale, just venmo @Nu-TKE and you'll be all set! The money raised will be split between "Canine Companions for Independence", TKE's philo benefitting St. Jude's and Alpha Phi's philanthropy benefitting women's heart health. Can't wait to have a great brunch and enjoy it with our sisters and some super cute dogs :)
On February 25, a group of Alpha Phis hiked up to the Big C collecting trash along the way. The world, and Berkeley especially, has so much to offer in terms of nature and scenery and we are so thankful to live in such an amazing place. Preserving the health of our environment is extremely important! We all had so much fun spending time together and helping give back to our beautiful planet.
This past weekend, our Executive Board went to Denver, Colorado to participate in the Alpha Phi International Leadership Conference. Besides trying to stay warm, we had many activities that kept them moving around! Each day was packed with sessions and discussions on how our Alpha Phi chapters operate across the west coast. Coming together with women from many different states was an amazing educational opportunity for our Lambda sisters. From finances to new member education, the facilitators prompted discussion among officers from each chapter. In this way our members were able to exchange ideas and learn from the experiences of other Alpha Phis. Our chapter was awarded Excellence in Community Outreach, COB MVP, and Order of the Lamp Qualifier! But the weekend wasn't just work and no play! Conference facilitators organized fun social events, such as a pajama and dance party, that allowed our team to unwind and enjoy themselves. Overall it was an amazing weekend, but we're happy as ca...

The new year is quickly approaching and with it, a sense of nostalgia. As we look forward to 2017, I can’t help but look back on the past semester and all the fun I had in Alpha Phi. The semester started off with recruitment and subsequently bid day, when we got to welcome 58 baby Alpha Phis home. You can check out our Fall 2016 bid day, in all of it’s pizza-eating, roller skating glory here!
Later on in the semester, we hosted our first philanthropy event, Mac & Phis. Our chef, Vince, prepared bowls of delicious mac and cheese that we sold to benefit the Alpha Phi Foundation in support of women’s heart health. Towards the end of the year, our philanthropy team organized the Red Dress Gala, another benefit event for the Alpha Phi Foundation. Friends and family of our lovely Alpha Phis came from all across the country to meet each other and support our philanthropy. We raised over thirteen thousand dollars for the foundation!
Those are just a few of the big events we participated in, but...
Thanks to everyone that came out to our annual Red Dress Gala! It was a real treat to invite our parents and friends to this elegant event (shoutout to our Philo chairs!). We raised over $14,000 that will go to the Alpha Phi Foundation in support of women's heart health.
We had such a fantastic time during our 80's-roller-rink themed Bid Day! All the hard work during Recruitment really paid off - we are overjoyed to welcome these generous, funny, witty, and caring women into our house. Can't wait to see what these next four years have to offer, and we are confident that lifelong friendships are already beginning to form. AOE <3
It's here!! We are so happy to finally release our 2016 recruitment video. This summer, so many of us have had the opportunities to explore. From hiking in the Pacific Northwest, to watching radiant sunsets in Thailand, to traversing the Sahara by camel, appreciating the world's natural beauty is so important to us. As Alpha Phis and as human beings, we believe that respecting the earth and all it has to offer is crucial in creating a better world.
Here Tamren is hiking near the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir, Northern California's primary water source. In our home, we emphasize saving water by encouraging each other to take shorter showers, especially in the current drought.
Lily loves discovering new spots in her native Thailand. On a hike in Phu Hin Rong Kla Phitsanulok National Park, she took a quick dive in the chilly waters of the Man Daeng waterfall.
A Montana native, Emma loves exploring the outdoors. Here she's backpacking in Glacier National Park, enjoying the sunshine, and marveling at the snow-topped mountains.
