This spring semester has been full of incredible adventures for the women of Alpha Phi, both in Berkeley and around the globe! As the semester gets closer and closer to its end, our sisters are working hard to accomplish their goals and make as many amazing memories as possible. With warm weather and sunshine every day, the rest of this spring semester is bound to be nothing but a blast!
Spring Break fun
During our much needed spring break, the women of Alpha Phi used this time to the fullest, making amazing memories while also catching up on some zzz's. Some of our sisters used this time to venture back home and see their families, and others decided to take this week to visit somewhere they had never been before. A few phi's took a rode trip through national parks in Utah and Arizona, hiking through canyons. Another group had a little stay-cation in San Diego, spending countless hours at the beach surfing, tanning and enjoying the nature of Southern California. Others explored the vi...
Kicking off the spring 2019 semester has already been nothing but eventful for the sisters of Alpha Phi! In the short time since winter break ended and everyone returned to Berkeley, the members of Alpha Phi have excelled individually, taking steps towards their ambitions and dreams, along with strengthening the bond of our sisterhood as a whole. From ASUC elections, to declaring majors, to traveling the world with best friends, the women of Alpha Phi are exploring their passions while making amazing life long memories.
4/4 for Haas Acceptances!
Alpha Phi had four amazing women apply for HAAS school of business this past fall semester, and all four were accepted into the major! This rigorous business degree program is extremely competitive with HAAS ranking 2nd overall in the nation, making Alpha Phi that much more proud of the accomplishments of Lauren, Christ
ina, Mary, and Sarah.
We know they are going to take their business aspirations and soar with the guidance that will be pro...
Hello one and all! We are thrilled to start blogging again and updating you all on our fun-filled, busy fall semester. From welcoming over forty new members in August, to decorating pumpkins for a sisterhood event, to traveling to Tahoe, our semester has been nothing short of adventures, bonding with our sisters.
October has been one for the books, starting off with celebrating over seven birthdays in the house this month, even multiple on the same day! Our beloved chef, Vince, made us birthday cake, a treat we look forward to at the beginning of each month.
Then on the weekend of October 12th, we hosted our parents for the highly anticipated Red Dress Gala, followed by our homecoming football game, and finally for an initiation ceremony for our new members. At the Red Dress Gala, which took place at the Lawrence Hall of Science up in the Berkeley hills, we enjoyed food catered by Top Dog, bided on raffle items such as tickets to sporting events to raise money for the Alpha Phi Foundati...
We can't wait for formal recruitment this fall! We're always updating our vsco (vsco.co/calalphaphi) and recently added a journal to show prospective members of the Greek community what Greek life is like at Cal. Check it out to get some great, useful information on things like bid day, philanthropy, living in, and sisterhood! We hope to see you all this fall :)
We are beyond proud of our graduates for completing such a huge life achievement. You will forever be the women that we look up to! We love you all and will miss you terribly <3 don't forget to come back and visit! Congratulations!
Welcome to Cal, and congratulations on your acceptance!!! We’re incredibly excited that Cal Day is finally here and we hope that visiting makes this difficult decision a little bit easier. We realize there are so many events being offered, so to make it a little less overwhelming, our resident tour guide, Rachel, has put together an itinerary to make your Cal Day the best it can be:
8 A.M: Pretend to be a student on her way to her first class of the day and grab a drink and some breakfast at Alpha Phi’s favorite spot, Caffe Strada, on College and Bancroft!
8:30-9:30 A.M.: Head to 1 Pimentel Hall to learn about being pre-med at Cal! (Fun fact: Alpha Phi has more STEM majors than any other sorority on campus!)
9-10 A.M.: Interested in Economics? Learn about the major in 2050 Valley Life Sciences Building!
10-11 A.M.: Learn about Decals in 205 Dwinelle! These are student led classes ranging from Harry Potter, Kanye West, to HIV research. Who knows, maybe you’ll end up teaching one like our s...
This past Saturday, Alpha Phi hosted the annual Aphi Bowl at Maxwell Field. After much heated competition between nine fraternities, Phi Psi was the ultimate winner! Thanks so much to every team that played - we raised over $1,000 which will be donated UCSF Benioff's Hospital. We had so much fun cheering on the players, reffing, and enjoying the company of our sisters in the sun!
We are so stoked that Alpha Phi was the winner of Sigma Chi's Derby Days philanthropy event! After countless hours of practicing for volleyball, post-dinner karaoke/rap battle rehearsals, our ruthless dedication to penny wars/Derby hats, and Erica's amazing work on our auction painting, we got first place and are happy to support Sigma Chi's philanthropy, Camp Kesem! It was so fun to participate in the fun events with all of our sisters while simultaneously raising money for a great cause.
On March 5, we hosted our first annual philanthropy event with TKE: Puppies n’ Pancakes! We worked with Canine Companions to host an amazing time! We raised around $1,000, which will go to Canine Companions, St. Judes, and the Alpha Phi Foundation for Women's Heart Health. We had a great time petting the pups and eating delicious pancakes and are so happy that we raised money for these three awesome organizations.
